Celebrate Rural Alabama!

Southeast Alabama Area Health Education Center (SEAAHEC) is proud to partner with the Alabama office for Primary Care and Rural Health and other state and national rural health organizations to promote National Rural Health Day on November 15, 2019!

Alabama is a mostly rural state with 90% of the counties (60/67) designated as health professional shortage areas. In fact, there are not enough health-care providers in these counties to provide health-care services for the general population or, in many cases, the lower-income population.

We recognize all health-care providers but today we applaud those who serve in our rural counties and bring support to rural Alabamians!

The SEAAHEC is part of the Alabama Statewide AHEC Program and one of five regional Centers across the state whose staff work to create greater access to health care in our rural and under-served communities. Our vision is to help build the primary care workforce in Alabama.
